Vancouver Bandits Re-sign Duane Notice

Notice led the Bandits in game-winning baskets in 2023 and earned team defensive player of the year honours for his efforts as a two-way player.

The Vancouver Bandits announced Thursday that the club has re-signed a core member of its roster by inking seasoned Team Canada guard and 2023 team defensive player of the year Duane Notice.


Notice averaged 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 25.0 minutes per game while nailing 40.6 per cent of his three-point attempts to lead all Vancouver players in accuracy from long-range and to also rank among the top 10 marksmen in the entire CEBL last summer.


Thanks to his late-game heroics, Notice quickly became a fan favourite with Vancouver. He scored three target score game winners in just his first season with the club, which ties him for fourth all-time among Bandits players. Notice converted his game winners against Niagara (June 10), Calgary (June 14) and Ottawa (July 27), respectively. 


After scoring in double figures once through the first half of the 2023 CEBL season, Notice heated up to score in double figures three times in the final eight games of Vancouver’s campaign; including a season-high outburst in scoring against Winnipeg on July 23 when he tallied 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point distance.


“Vancouver! We have unfinished business. I am happy to be back out west with the Bandits family and give my all on court for the best fans in the CEBL,” Notice said.


Hailing from Toronto, Ont., Notice is a prominent name in the Canadian basketball scene and previously played in the CEBL for the Brampton Honey Badgers (formerly known as Hamilton) in 2019 and 2020. Over his two years with the Honey Badgers, Notice averaged 29.7 minutes, 13.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.


Prior to the Honey Badgers, Notice spent two seasons and played 80 games with the Toronto Raptors’ NBA G League affiliate, the Raptors 905, between 2018-2020. In 2018-19 with the 905, Notice averaged 10 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game on 38.5 per cent shooting from three-point range.


Notice has represented
Team Canada at six different tournaments and has played a combined total of 30 international games throughout his career, both as a member of the junior men’s and senior men’s national teams. 


Known as a two-way player, Notice suited up for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks from 2013-17 and is the school’s all-time leader in games played with 138. Over the course of five collegiate seasons in the SEC, Notice averaged 28.9 minutes, 10.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists per game on 36.6 per cent shooting from three-point distance.


Notice’s selfless play was recognized during the 2015-16 season when he was named the SEC’s sixth man of the year. In 2017 Notice garnered further accolades when he helped lead the Gamecocks to the NCAA Tournament Final Four.


“Duane means so much to our organization and our culture. His consistent effort to put the team first combined with his toughness and resiliency is very special to us. Duane was our most efficient player on both sides of the ball last year and we are truly grateful that he is back with us as one of our leaders and captains,” Bandits head coach and general manager Kyle Julius said.

Fans will get their first opportunity to watch the Bandits on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. PT when Vancouver opens its season at home when the Montréal Alliance visit Langley Events Centre.


Vancouver will play a total of 10 regular season home games in 2024 between Thursday, May 23 and Thursday, July 18. The Bandits wrap up regular season action on the road against Montréal on Sunday, July 28 at 1 p.m. PT.

Vancouver Bandits team president Dylan Kular has been named a recipient of a 2025 B.C. Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Annual Award, announced by the Government of B.C. on Tuesday. The annual awards celebrate people and organizations that demonstrate leadership in promoting multiculturalism, anti-racism and intercultural understanding. Nearly 50 people and organizations were nominated for 2025 awards, recognizing contributions to building inclusive communities. In addition to Kular, three people and one organization are also receiving the B.C. Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards for their exceptional efforts to fight racism and promote inclusion in British Columbia. “These award recipients exemplify the values of inclusion and respect that strengthen our province,” said Niki Sharma, Attorney General. “Their leadership and creativity are inspiring. I am proud to honour their exceptional efforts to break down barriers, foster inclusion and build stronger, more equitable communities across British Columbia.” Kular was named a recipient of the “Breaking Barriers” award, which recognizes individuals and organizations for their work in tackling systemic or institutional racism and reducing barriers for marginalized communities. “It is an honour to receive this recognition from the Government of B.C . This award truly reflects the collective efforts of our entire organization,” said Kular. “Our team ownership group provides the leadership that empowers our organization to build and foster meaningful change. The Vancouver Bandits and Bandits Community Foundation are committed to continue breaking barriers and connecting communities across B.C. through the sport of basketball.” Under Kular’s leadership in 2025, which saw him earn CEBL Executive of the Year honours for a league-record third time, the Vancouver Bandits led efforts in building inclusive communities through sports and partnerships with Indigenous organizations and diverse populations across the province. Through partnerships and initiatives through the Bandits Community Foundation , such as the Indigenous Basketball Collective , in collaboration with the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I-SPARC) and the Junior All Native Tournament (JANT). Kular and the Bandits worked to address systemic barriers and foster meaningful engagement, particularly for individuals with intersecting identities and those in remote areas. “Advancing anti-racism and intercultural trust requires courage, collaboration and commitment,” said Amna Shah, parliamentary secretary for anti-racism initiatives. “These honourees demonstrate all three values through their actions every day. The Vancouver Bandits and Bandits Community Foundation announced the launch of its School Tour program for the 2025-26 school year. The program will see Vancouver Bandits’ Head Coach & General Manager, Kyle Julius, visit secondary schools across British Columbia to host basketball skill and training sessions with student-athletes and their teams. Entering its third year, this free-of-charge initiative is part of the Bandits’ ongoing commitment to fostering youth basketball and building community connections throughout the province. The tour will run from November to February and will make weekly stops in different cities. Starting this week, communities that will be visited within the first two weeks of the program include schools in Abbotsford, Mission, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. The full schedule will be announced soon as additional communities are confirmed. Julius, a passionate advocate for youth sports development and mentorship, will be working directly with student-athletes and volunteer coaches at each school visited to offer insights into the game while emphasizing key life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and discipline. Throughout the tour, Julius will provide each secondary school’s basketball program with dedicated and tailored practices along with motivational talks and training materials. Each visit aims to elevate the game of basketball in BC high schools and offer a unique opportunity for students and coaches to learn from BC’s only professional basketball coach. The School Tour program is proudly supported by Preston Chevrolet and NOVO Dental Centre, community-minded sponsors who believe in the value of sports as a catalyst for positive change. During the previous 2024-25 school year, the Vancouver Bandits School Tour and Julius visited with 77 high school teams across British Columbia from November 2024 to February 2025.
