Vancouver Bandits Open 2024 Free Agency in Advance of Sixth CEBL Season

LANGLEY, B.C., February 1, 2024 – The Vancouver Bandits and Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) have announced the opening of the 2024 Free Agency period, starting at 9:00 a.m. PT on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024.
As BC’s professional basketball team inches closer to its sixth CEBL season, tipping off on Thursday, May 23 at Langley Events Centre, 2024 Free Agency serves as a key opportunity to re-tool and gather talent in advance of the upcoming campaign amidst high expectations.
“We are all excited to get free agency under way. We will continue to build a roster full of toughness, grit and high energy,” said Bandits head coach and general manager Kyle Julius. “We are poised to have a great summer and we can't wait to get back on the court.”
Below is a breakdown on some of the specifics of the 2024 CEBL Free Agency period:
- Free agency officially commences for all CEBL teams at 9:00 a.m. PT on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 .
- Free agency officially closes for each CEBL team 24 hours prior to their 16th game of the regular season.
- The Vancouver Bandits’ transaction deadline is at 5:30 p.m. PT on Friday, July 12, 2024.
- Players added to their club’s protected list at the end of the 2023 season are protected from contact with any other club until 9:01 p.m. PT on Friday, March 1, 2024, and only if not signed by that date.
- Free agent players may have contact with the teams in advance of March 1, 2024, provided no players on any teams’ protected list are contacted in any way. The Bandits’ protected list is below:
- Doug Herring, Duane Notice, Jahenns Manigat, Kur Jongkuch, Nick Ward
- Starting February 1, up until the league wide training camp cutdown date of May 9, all CEBL teams are allowed a maximum of 23 contracts at any given time.
- On Friday, May 10, 2024, all teams will cut down to the training camp roster maximum of 16 players plus a list of signed players that will be joining their respective teams at the conclusion of their international teams schedule.
- All teams will cut down to their final rosters of 14 players just prior to a team's first regular season game.
- There is a maximum of eight player transactions allowed per team during the regular season
- Team active rosters must have a minimum of six Canadian players and a maximum of three American players
Vancouver will play a total of 10 regular season home games in 2024 between Thursday, May 23 and Thursday, July 18. The Bandits wrap up regular season action on the road against Montréal on Sunday, July 28 at 1 p.m. PT.
All CEBL regular season games including playoffs will be live-streamed on TSN+, as well as the CEBL’s OTT platform,
CEBL+, and on CEBL Mobile, the official app of the CEBL (available on Android and iOS devices). The schedule of nationally televised games will be announced at a later date.
