Australian Standout Forward Mitch Creek Returns to the Bandits

The Vancouver Bandits announced Friday that veteran Australian forward Mitch Creek will return to BC’s professional basketball team, re-signing with the club for the upcoming 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League season.


The 6-foot-5 import was brought on as a late-season addition on July 7, 2024 and made an immediate impact. In 2024, he averaged an impressive 25.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 50 per cent shooting in six regular season appearances. Leading by example, Creek continued his production into the postseason where he recorded a 26 point, 13 rebound double-double in the CEBL Championship game on August 11, 2024 against the Niagara River Lions.


Quickly becoming a fan-favourite during his short time in Vancouver, Creek holds three of the five highest scoring games in Bandits history, notching 31 points on both July 13, 2024 and July 18, 2024 and achieving a season-high 33 points against Brampton on July 25, 2024. 


A veteran of 14 professional seasons, Creek appeared in five NBA regular season games during the 2018-19 season. Splitting time between the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves, he averaged 4.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game on 50 per cent shooting from the field across both clubs. 


Hailing from Horsham, Victoria, Creek is a notable figure in the Australian basketball scene. He has been instrumental in the success of the Australian men’s national basketball team, nicknamed the Boomers, with whom he won the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and competed in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. 


In addition to his time with Australia’s national team, Creek suited up in 340 games in the country’s National Basketball League (NBL), which is widely regarded as one of the top 10 professional basketball leagues in the world. Creek was named All-NBL First Team in 2023, the All Second Team in 2018, 2021 and 2022 and served as captain for both the Adelaide 36ers and South East Melbourne Phoenix.


Outside of Australia, Creek has taken his talents around the world playing in the German Bundesliga (Göttingen, 2017-18), the NBA G League (Long Island Nets, 2018-19), the Chinese Basketball Association (Xinjiang Flying Tigers, 2023-24), Puerto Rico (2022-24) and most recently in the 2024-25 season with Trabzonspor of the Turkish Basketball League where he is averaging 32.7 minutes, 20.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on 59 per cent shooting from field goal range.

The Bandits tip-off the 2025 CEBL campaign on Thursday, May 15 when the club hits the road to take on the Saskatchewan Rattlers. Fans will have their first chance to watch the club at home on Thursday, May 22 at 7 p.m. PT when Vancouver hosts the Niagara River Lions in a rematch of the 2024 CEBL Final. Vancouver will play a total of 12 regular season home games in 2025 between Thursday, May 22 and Sunday, August 3. The Bandits wrap up regular season action on the road in Ottawa on Sunday, August 10 at 12 p.m. PT. 


All CEBL regular season games including playoffs will be live-streamed on TSN+, as well as the CEBL’s OTT platform, CEBL+, and on CEBL Mobile, the official app of the CEBL (available on Android and iOS devices).

Vancouver Bandits, FortisBC, I SPARC Host Youth Basketball Camp in Williams Lake

The Vancouver Bandits, BC’s professional basketball team, hosted a youth basketball camp on Wednesday, September 9 in Williams Lake, in partnership with the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I∙SPARC) and FortisBC. The Bandits welcomed over 40 local athletes and their families to the camp, with the main goal of building confidence, inspiring young athletes, and bringing youth sports development and mentorship to athletes across the province. Held at Lake City Secondary, the camp marked the first community visit by BC’s professional basketball team to the Cariboo region, bringing more basketball to more people across our province. “Community is a core pillar of the Bandits organization, and we are proud to host camps and opportunities that help shape and inspire the next generation of players and leaders,” said Vancouver Bandits team president Dylan Kular. “Thank you to our partners at I∙SPARC and FortisBC for their support in bringing this camp to fruition, and to the Williams Lake basketball community for welcoming our team this week.” "We're proud to support opportunities that help young people build confidence, strengthen their skills and create lasting connections," said Janet Devaney, senior manager, community & Indigenous initiatives at FortisBC. Established in 2023, ongoing and past projects through the Collective include camps and clinics for Indigenous youth and coaches, building new basketball courts in Indigenous communities, and hosting the 2026 Junior All Native Basketball Tournament.

Former Vancouver Bandits guard Kyle Mangas has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Charlotte Hornets. The news was announced by the Hornets on social media. Mangas is expected to practice and compete with the Hornets during the 2026-27 Training Camp and preseason from October 3rd to 12th. During his time with the Bandits in the 2025 season, Mangas finished top five on the team in points (15.3), rebounds (4.6), assists (3.3) and steals (1.3).
