Vancouver Bandits Release Shane Gibson

LANGLEY, B.C., June 30, 2023 – The Vancouver Bandits announced Friday the release of guard Shane Gibson so he can pursue other playing opportunities.
The 2023 campaign was Gibson’s second season with the Bandits and he suited up in four games, averaging 18.8 minutes and 7.3 points per game.
The Bandits look to get back in the win column tomorrow night as the club enters the first game of a home-and-away series against the Edmonton Stingers. The first game tips off at Langley Events Centre tomorrow, Saturday, July 1 at 7 p.m. PT and is followed by a quick turnaround that will see the Bandits travel to Alberta’s capital for a 1 p.m. PT rematch at the Edmonton EXPO Centre.

A key highlight of Vancouver’s fifth CEBL campaign will be its hosting of Championship Weekend, which takes place between Friday, August 11 and Sunday, August 13. An annual celebration of the highest level of Canadian professional basketball, Championship Weekend features a postseason format that combines three games of playoff basketball as part of a multi-day festival experience designed to celebrate the intersection of arts, culture and sport. As hosts of Championship Weekend, the Bandits receive an automatic berth in the conference finals doubleheader to be played on Friday, August 11.
