THOMAS KENNEDY NAMED TO CANADA'S SENIOR MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
CEBL U SPORTS Player of the Year to make Senior Men's National Team debut at 2022 FIBA AmeriCup

Fraser Valley Bandits forward Thomas Kennedy was named one of twelve athletes selected to represent Canada at the 2022 FIBA AmeriCup. The 2022 FIBA AmeriCup will run from September 2nd to 11th, in Recife, Brazil.
This will be the third time Kennedy has represented his country internationally. The Windsor, Ont. product suited up for the Canadian Men’s U23 team at the inaugural GLOBL JAM showcase this past June and July
A student-athlete from the University of Windsor, Kennedy was named 2022 CEBL U SPORTS Player of the Year, averaging 14.5 points, 8.3 rebounds (third in the league) and two assists per game on 63.6 per cent shooting from the field (second in the league).
Over 12 regular season games played with the Bandits, the 6-foot-9 forward averaged 28.1 minutes per game and led the team across several statistical categories; including second in points, first in rebounds, fourth in assists and steals per game, as well as ranking first in field goal percentage.
The FIBA AmeriCup 2022 returns to Brazil for the first time since 1984, when it was held in São Paulo, with the 19th edition of the tournament running September 2-11, 2022 at the Geraldão Arena in Recife. Fans in Canada can catch all the action streaming live on Courtside 1891.
Canada is in Group A and will face hosts Brazil (Sept. 2, 7:10 p.m. ET), Uruguay (Sept. 3, 4:40 p.m. ET), and Colombia (Sept. 5, 10:10 a.m. ET) in the Group Phase. The two best finishers in each group as well as the two best third-place teams in the competition will move on to the quarterfinals.
Canada went 3-1 to finish atop Group C in the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers to successfully qualify for the FIBA AmeriCup 2022.
The FIBA AmeriCup was originally scheduled to be held in 2021 but was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Canada is currently ranked 18th in the world.
