FRASER VALLEY BANDITS RE-SIGN MALCOLM DUVIVIER FOR 2021 CEBL SEASON

ABBOTSFORD, BC, March 24, 2021 – The Fraser Valley Bandits announced Wednesday that the club has re-signed Malcolm Duvivier for the upcoming 2021 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season.
A 6-foot-2 guard, Duvivier is coming off the best season of his young professional career, where during the 2020 Summer Series, he averaged 11.3 points, five rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game on 42.1 per cent shooting from the field and three-point range, respectively, over six regular season games.
The Bandits named Duvivier defensive player of the year and team MVP for his stellar two-way play.
“It’s an honour to re-sign with the Bandits for the 2021 season. After a championship berth last year, we have unfinished business to attend to and I can’t wait to put it all on the line for the Fraser Valley each time we take the court. We’re building a family-first culture and I’m proud to be part of a group that will inspire our fans and help grow the game in the community,” Duvivier said.
Duvivier’s assertive play on both sides of the ball made him a favourite among Bandits fans last season. His best stretch arrived when it mattered most on Aug. 5 versus the Guelph Nighthawks and Aug. 8 against the Hamilton Honey Badgers.
On Aug. 5 against Guelph, the Toronto native recorded 14 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a double-double performance that cemented an 84-70 victory and a semifinal berth for Fraser Valley. Three days later, Duvivier posted 18 points and eight rebounds in a do-or-die semifinal win over Hamilton that sent Fraser Valley to the CEBL championship.
“Malcolm is a hidden Canadian gem. He embodies our culture of toughness, grit and leadership. We can count on him for a bucket and to shut down the best player on the other team,” Bandits general manager Kyle Julius said. “Malcolm is a special and underrated Canadian player and I can’t wait to see him open more eyes this summer.”
Duvivier began his professional career with the Halifax Hurricanes in 2018-19 and made the NBLC All-Rookie team after a solid campaign where he averaged 8.2 points, two rebounds and two assists per game. Duvivier played the 2019-20 season for the Sudbury Five where he continued to develop as a professional, elevating his averages to 9.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
Duvivier attended St. Michael’s College School where he enjoyed a decorated high school career and was was named St. Michael’s most valuable player four times as part of a high school tenure that saw the team win four league championships. Duvivier began garnering national recognition during his high school career as he represented Canada at both the 2011 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Americas U16 and 2012 FIBA U17 World Championships. In addition to starring for St. Michael’s, Duvivier was a standout for CIA Bounce, a notable Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) program that has helped foster NBA talents such as Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, Jamal Murray, Dillon Brooks and more.
Duvivier began his collegiate career at Oregon State University (OSU) where he developed a reputation as a highflying and physical guard capable of soaring above defenders for both rebounds and dunks during his time with the Beavers from 2013-16. Duvivier posted averages of 6.6 points, two rebounds and two assists per game on 38.9 and 35.1 per cent shooting from field goal and three-point range, respectively.
In his final season with the Beavers, Duvivier helped lead OSU to its first appearance in the March Madness NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament since 1990.
Duvivier then transferred to the University of Akron where he suited up for the Zips. He relished the best season of his collegiate career with the Zips, averaging 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game while connecting on 39 and 37.3 per cent of his field goal and three-point attempts.
The Bandits open the 2021 season at home versus Edmonton on Saturday, June 5 at 1 p.m. PT at Abbotsford Centre. All regular season games will also be live streamed on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca, the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices and on a new OTT streaming platform that the CEBL will unveil this spring.
A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL has the highest percentage of Canadian players of any professional league in the country, with 80 percent of its 2020 rosters being Canadians. Players come from the NBA G League, top international leagues, the Canadian national team program, and top NCAA and U SPORTS programs.

The Vancouver Bandits announced Thursday the club’s 2026 CEBL regular season schedule, a 24-game campaign that will see the club open its eighth Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season on Thursday, May 14 in Saskatchewan at 6:30 p.m. PT. The Bandits will tip off the home portion of their schedule with a pair of games as part of Home Opener Weekend at Envision Financial Court at Langley Events Centre. The home opener will be played on Friday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. PT against the Edmonton Stingers, while the second game will take place on Sunday, May 24 at 5:00 p.m. when the Bandits host the Calgary Surge in a rematch of the 2025 CEBL Western Conference Quarterfinal. The CEBL Finals will be a best-of-three series from August 12–16, marking the first multi-game playoff series in league history: Game 1 – Wednesday, August 12 Game 2 – Saturday, August 15 Game 3 (if necessary) – Sunday, August 16 The lower seed team will host Game 1, while the higher seed will host Games 2 and 3 (if necessary), replacing the previous single-elimination Championship Weekend host team model. “These historic changes to our playoff format represent a major milestone for the CEBL and our fans, and they mark a natural progression as the league continues to grow and evolve,” explained CEBL President Tyler Mazereeuw. “Our focus remains on delivering the best possible experience for our teams, players, and fans, and this is another step forward in fulfilling that mission. Vancouver Bandits guard Kyle Mangas has signed a two-way contract to join the San Antonio Spurs. The news was announced Saturday by the NBA G League on social media. Mangas was a key member of the Bandits’ best season in franchise history as the club amassed a 19-5 record. During the 2025 summer campaign, Mangas finished top five in points (15.3), rebounds (4.6), assists (3.3) and steals (1.3). His stellar performance earned him a call up to the San Antonio Spurs’ NBA Summer League squad in July 2025. At the conclusion of the 2025 CEBL season, Mangas suited up for San Antonio’s NBA G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs, dressing in 10 games. Mangas becomes the third player to sign an NBA two-way contract after playing for the Bandits; the most from any Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) franchise (2023: DJ Steward - Chicago Bulls, 2024: Tazé Moore - Portland Trail Blazers). Mangas is one of two Bandits players to have signed with an NBA organization in 2025-26. Tyrese Samuel signed an Exhibit 10 contract in September 2025 and is working his way towards a two-way contract.
