BANDITS RE-SIGN MAREK KLASSEN FOR FOURTH CEBL SEASON

LANGLEY, B.C., July 3, 2022 – The Fraser Valley Bandits announced Sunday that the club has signed Marek Klassen for his fourth season with the Bandits.
Klassen will make his 2022
Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) debut this afternoon when Fraser Valley takes on the Niagara River Lions at Langley Events Centre.

A 6-foot-1 guard from Yale Secondary School in Abbotsford, B.C. Klassen is in his seventh season of professional basketball and recently suited up for Czarni Slupsk in the Polish Basketball League (PLK).
Over 41 games played, Klassen averaged 13.7 points (2nd on team), 6.6 assists (1st on team), 3.6 rebounds and 31.4 minutes per game for Czarni, who finished atop the league with a regular season record of 23-7. Klassen led Czarni in three-pointers made and attempted, nailing 116-of-303 attempts (38.3 per cent).
As captain of the club, Klassen finished first in the PLK in assists, second in three-pointers made, fifth in points and twelfth in steals.
Klassen most recently represented the Bandits in 2021 when he suited up for six games for the club and averaged 11.8 points, 4.8 assists and 1.8 rebounds on 44.7 per cent shooting from three-point range in six games played.
The talented point guard is no stranger to B.C. hoops fans. He is a former BC Provincial Player of the Year and 2010 High School AAA MVP as a member of the Yale Lions.
Sunday’s contest against Niagara marks Klassen’s first game in a Bandits uniform since July 10, 2021 when Fraser Valley faced off against Ottawa. He currently sits first all-time in Bandits career assists (160), second in Bandits career scoring (336) and second in Bandits career three-pointers made (65).
The Bandits also announced Sunday that they have given Kadre Gray release from the team in order to pursue future playing opportunities.
Gray scored a season-high 17 points in back-to-back games to open the
Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) on May 25 and May 27 against Ottawa and Hamilton, respectively.
Gray averaged 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 23.2 minutes per game in 11 contests for the Bandits and previously played for the Ottawa BlackJacks in 2021.
