Bandits head coach Kyle Julius is sharing pro basketball insights with the Lower Mainland one school at a time.

Vancouver’s bench boss is making an impact in the community this CEBL offseason.
The Vancouver Bandits have kept busy this CEBL off-season by working with local schools and their basketball programs.
Throughout the first semester of the 2023-24 school year, Bandits head coach and general manager Kyle Julius has been visiting schools across the Lower Mainland hosting basketball skill and training sessions with their basketball programs.
To date, Julius has visited 68 teams from 29 schools with teams ranging from middle school to the senior level.
The initiative is part of the Bandits’ ongoing commitment to support the development of middle and high school basketball in British Columbia.
In a typical practice with Julius, student-athletes experience an extensive warm-up routine that closely mirrors a Bandits workout. The warm-up is followed by several drills and training routines aimed at building skill and character.
Each practice concludes with a question-and-answer session. Practices with Julius have been met with positive reception from educators and student-athletes alike.
“Having the Bandits work with schools in the Lower Mainland is exciting,” Julius said. “These coaches and student-athletes are doing great work, so to come in and help for a day and share my experiences with these teams is very important.”
“Hosting Kyle and the Bandits at our school was an incredible opportunity,” said Rachel Beskau, an educator and basketball coach at RE Mountain Secondary in Langley. “To have a coach at the professional level was extremely beneficial for our student-athletes. Our kids felt inspired during practice and we plan to put Kyle’s drills directly into our basketball programs.”
Julius’ school practices are just one of the many ways in which the Bandits have helped support high school basketball in BC. The Bandits also sponsor various tournaments throughout the school year and annually showcase a BC Player of the Week program in partnership with A&W Canada.
